Odeceixe will offer 300 glamping accommodation units by the open-air hospitality operator wecamp, which has announced its expansion into the Portuguese market with the acquisition of two premium assets.

The resorts Reserva Alecrim and São Miguel, both in Odeceixe, are currently owned by the alternative investment manager Meridia, and will be rebranded and operated under the wecamp brand.

Both of these properties comprise over 21 hectares and will feature approximately 300 accommodation units.

Aiming at “enhancing asset quality and improving the guest experience”, Meridia and wecamp plan “to expand the resorts as they elevate operations across both properties with a premium and sustainable approach. This strategy aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly, nature-focused tourism, offering guests a modern yet nature-centred experience”, shared Meridia in a press statement.

Iberia’s unique location and offerings have already made it one of the top glamping destinations in Europe.”

“Portugal is a key market for open-air hospitality in Europe, and these acquisitions represent a major step forward in our strategy to grow and consolidate our platform,” says Victor Iborra, Partner at Meridia and Board Member at wecamp. “Their prime location and unique offerings will serve as a cornerstone for our presence in the region. We’re confident in the long-term potential of this market and are actively exploring additional opportunities to grow and diversify our portfolio in Portugal.”

This collaboration follows an aggregation strategy that has helped Meridia position itself as a leading player in Spain and Portugal with its sustainable open-air hospitality platform. Through their combined efforts, they are contributing to the professionalisation of an underinvested and highly fragmented industry.
