For artists and ocean lovers, dive into the captivating works of local artists Vilma Vicente and Dana Georgescu, starting this January 18
– January 14, 2025
Casa Real Compromisso Marítimo in Ferragudo is preparing to host the “Liquid Vibes” exhibition, taking place between January 18 and February 1.
Art lovers can look forward to being inspired by this exhibition featuring two contemporary artists, Vilma Vicente and Dana Georgescu, with art pieces that explore the theme of water in a thought-provoking display where “transformation, fluidity, and the interconnectedness of life and nature” come together.
Drawing inspiration from the element of water, both as a physical and a symbolic force, the exhibition “Liquid Vibes” will delve into the concept of life as a “fluid, ever-changing process”.
Visitors will embark on a multi-sensory journey, exploring how water intertwines with the broader narrative of humanity’s relationship with nature.
Vilma Vicente
Vilma was born in Lisbon and graduated from the Lisbon University of Fine Arts in 2002. She has been passionate about painting throughout her life. With a deep connection to the ocean and a love for free diving and surfing, these experiences have profoundly influenced her art, where she captures the fluidity and majesty of the sea.
Recently, Vilma moved to the Algarve, where she discovered her true calling as an artist. Here, she explores mixed-media techniques that allow her to bring her vision to life through fluid art.
“My painting is raw and passionate. I love experimenting with different techniques and materials, but fluid art is the one I’m most passionate about. I enjoy the controlled chaos of the creative process and the unexpected character of the final results.”
Dana Georgescu
Dana is a passionate seashell artist born by the sea, sharing a deep connection with water that began in childhood and has continued throughout her life. After nearly a decade of travelling the world’s oceans whilst working on cruise liners, Dana settled in Portugal, where she now creates her art.
Using sustainable practices and attention to detail, Dana crafts her works from recycled shells and natural materials, producing beautiful textures and sculptural creations with organic patterns. Her designs “echo the deep blue beauty of the oceans”.
Dana’s art represents a deeply personal journey, blending her life experiences, cherished memories, and passion for educating others about environmental conservation.
“Each of my one-of-a-kind pieces tells a story where the essence of nature beautifully and meaningfully blends with personal memories.”
Everyone is invited to the exhibition’s opening taking place on January 18, between 3pm and 6pm, where visitors can meet the artists in person.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Mondays to Fridays between 10.30am and 3pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 10.30am and 6pm.
