– May 27, 2024
Partners in life and now in business, chef João Marreiros from Loki and Lauren Torres from Sphinx Gallery, both in Portimão, have joined forces to push the “boundaries of culinary artistry”. For this, the chef will create a series of exclusive dinners hosted at the gallery, with the first one taking place on June 1st, at 7pm, and consisting of a seven-course menu paired with Portuguese wines.
Visitors are invited to experience an intersection of art and gastronomy, which promises to be “nothing short of extraordinary”, offering guests a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to indulge in a fusion of exceptional cuisine and captivating art”.
The renowned chef from Portimão’s famous restaurant LOKI, João Marreiros, will bring his expertise to the table, “crafting menus that reflect a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation”. Each dish will be meticulously curated to tantalise the senses, showcasing the finest locally sourced ingredients transformed into culinary masterpieces that promise to surprise and delight.
Guests can expect each dinner in the series to offer a new and exciting culinary adventure, with menus inspired by seasonal ingredients, cultural influences, and the artistic themes explored in the gallery’s on-going exhibitions.
The partnership with Lauren Torres, a seasoned curator with “a passion for fostering unique cultural experiences”, adds an exciting dimension to these special dinners.
Marreiros’ culinary vision is complemented by Torres’ eye for artistry and commitment to creating immersive environments, making each event a multisensory experience.
“I’m excited to collaborate with João Marreiros on this unique project,” said Torres. “We aim to create a truly immersive dining event that stimulates both the palate and the imagination.”
This collaboration aims to “blur the lines between food and art, creating an immersive experience that ignites the imagination and leaves a lasting impression”, according to João Marreiros. “Our love for each other and our respective crafts infuses every aspect of these dinners, resulting in an evening that is as romantic as it is unforgettable.”
