Portuguese artist and costume designer Helena de Medeiros presents her ‘Random Birds’ exhibition, taking place this November 30th, between 3pm and 7pm, at the Pousada de Sagres.

Helena is a renowned costume designer who has collaborated with some of the most prestigious international choreographers and dance companies in the world, including the Bolshoi Ballet (Russia), Ballett Basel (Switzerland), Ballett Dortmund (Germany), and Ballet La Scala (Milan), among others.

Her artworks reflect the same fluidity and movement as her costumes, creating a bridge between the body in motion and the visual arts.

In her ‘Random Birds’ exhibition, she delves into the aesthetics and expressiveness of contemporary ballet.

Alongside her career as a costume designer, Helena has pursued a parallel career in fine arts as a painter, exhibiting regularly in solo shows worldwide since 1990. Helena’s paintings establish an important dialogue with her work in costume design, blending the realms of visual art and performance.

Born in Porto, Portugal, Helena de Medeiros graduated from the London Fashion School and Escola Superior de Artes e Design. Her work as a costume designer is primarily dedicated to contemporary ballet but also extends to cinema, theatre, and opera.

Entrance to the exhibition is free.
