Taking place at the idyllic Fontes de Estômbar Municipal Park, there will be workshops and activities during the day
– August 30, 2024
The Municipality of Lagoa, alongside the Portuguese Society of Ecology and A Rocha (a Christian Association for the Defense of the Environment), will host a series of activities to promote International Ecology Day, an initiative that aims to establish the link between ecology and society towards building more sustainable human development.
The Moths and Nocturnal Butterflies Wokrshop will be held on September 13, between 9pm and 11pm, taking participants on a journey through the nocturnal world of moths. To register for this workshop, click here (registration is mandatory to participate).
And on September 14, the Bird Watching Walk will take place between 9am and 12pm. With this initiative, the Municipality of Lagoa aims to raise awareness of the importance and beauty of migratory birds, the dangers they face during their movements, and the need to preserve the places where they rest, feed, and reproduce during migrations. Registration is also required.
The Municipality of Lagoa points out that “ecology is the branch of biology that studies the interactions between organisms and their environment, both biotic (other living beings) and abiotic (non-living factors such as climate, soil and water).”
