The Algarve Box Cup will take place for the third year in a row in Lagoa, an international boxing event that features top-tier male and female boxers.
The 3rd edition of the competition features elite boxing athletes, making it a one-of-a-kind occasion at a national level, being a key event to the Portuguese Boxing Federation, as it is the only national boxing competition exclusively dedicated to Olympic boxing athletes.
A total of 120 elite athletes from 17 countries will compete in this year’s edition, with teams from Norway, Switzerland, Cuba, and Italy.
The competition will take place on December 6 (Friday), 7 (Saturday), and 8 (Sunday), at Lagoa’s Jacinto Correia municipal sports pavilion.
A total of €12,000 in prize money will be awarded to winners across the several weight categories.
The brand owner behind the Algarve Box Cup, Sandra Silva, sees this event as a landmark achievement: “The Algarve Box Cup was a challenging initiative, but this edition is the culmination of all the hard work carried out over previous years. This level of excellence is only possible thanks to the strong collaboration with the municipality and all stakeholders involved. The people of Lagoa have embraced this event as part of their sports culture. The Algarve Box Cup is a stage for the world’s best boxers, making it an unforgettable spectacle for boxing fans and sports lovers alike!”
The event is also part of the municipal sports development strategy, entitled ‘Lagoa Acolhe Grandes Eventos’ (Lagoa Hosts Great Events), which aims to bolster the economy by hosting sports events and promoting sports as a means to a healthy lifestyle.
Tickets cost €10 for one day and €20 for the three-day pass and will be sold at the venue.
