Two-Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant opens with a new “Route of India” Menu
– March 4, 2022
Ocean Restaurant starts the new season with “Route of India“, taking diners on a journey with sojourns in Cape Verde, Ghana and Mozambique to Goa. The new menu is described as an exploration of the richness of flavours and ingredients characteristic of each area and, above all, of the influence brought by the caravels of the golden period of the Portuguese Discoveries to the valued Portuguese gastronomy.
The “Route of India” includes fourteen distinct moments: Stewed Maize | Yam | Imperial Caviar, Blue Crab | Green Pepper | Avocado or Pyrenean Lamb | Mungo Beans | Mango Achar | Purple Curry with a sweet ending starting with Cassava | Malambe | Finger Lime.
This narrative follows the fieldwork carried out by chef Hans Neuner and the kitchen team over the last two years, who first focused on the country, from north to south, with the menu “Discovering Portugal“, then, with a jump from the mainland to the islands of the Azores, Madeira and Cabo Verde, broadened the proposal with the “Islands Edition“. This invitation to navigate between charismatic dishes and typical ingredients takes guests a little further with the will to delve into the origin of many gastronomic influences, since the golden Portuguese times, still present today.
The tasting menu at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant respects the time of the products and the seasons of the year, which is also part of the Vila Vita Parc philosophy of sustainability. The wine pairing is crafted by sommelier Ricardo Rodrigues, always guided by a careful selection of national and international wines, with preference for limited and exclusive productions – unique opportunities for all food and wine lovers and gourmands.
The menu costs €235 per person and offers the option of pairing for €140 per person. Ocean serves only dinners, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 7pm to 10pm.
Reservations can be made through the restaurantocean.com website or via telephone +351 282 310 100, and the full Menu can be seen here.
