A variety of sports events will take place this month throughout the municipality of Portimão, including skateboarding, motorsports, pétanque, athletics, kayak, surf, underwater fishing, and more

April 12-14
This weekend, the riverside area of Portimão will host an official stage of the Liga Pro Skate LPS skateboard championship.
Praia da Rocha will also be the centrepiece of the Arade Classic, with surf, art and music on April 13 and 14 between 9am and 10pm, with live music starting from 6pm until 10pm.
The National Kayak Polo Championship II, organised by the Portimão Naval Club, will take place on the Arade River this April 13 and 14, starting at 8.30am on both days, and ending at 9.30pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday.
Finally, Montes de Alvor will welcome a regional pétanque tournament on April 14, starting at 9am.
April 20-21

April 20-28
The Liga Pequenos Campeões football tournament, aimed at young players aged 5 to 9, will be held at the Mexilhoeira Grande sports complex on April 20, 21, 25, 27 and 28.
April 25
The 50th anniversary of Portugal’s Carnation Revolution will be celebrated once again with the iconic Liberty Race, organised by the Algarve Athletics Association and the Portimão Municipal Council, on April 25.
April 27
Other highlights of the municipal sports agenda will be a basketball match-up between local club Portimonense and SL Benfica, one of Portugal’s top clubs, on April 27 at the Boavista sports pavilion
The Masters 50 handball competition will be held at the Gimnodesportivo and Teixeira Gomes pavilions on April 27.
A stage of the National Underwater Fishing Championship will be held on April 27 and 28.
And the local initiative Active Sundays will continue at the Alvor sports complex on April 28, offering fitness and dance classes to the community.
May
In May, sports fans can also look forward to events including the International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament, the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, and the Portimão Box Cup.
