The highly popular event returns to Silves from August 9-17

Starting this Friday, the iconic fair will bring back historical recreations to Silves for nine days of unforgettable experiences.
There will be no shortage of entertainment, including historical shows with jousts on horseback and swordfighting, fire and belly dances, medieval processions, and many other performances taking place throughout the city at different times.
Entertainers working the shows will all be donning historical costumes, and visitors can rent medieval costumes to wear (€3 for adults, €2 for children).
The event will bring together different Portuguese and international vendors, offering visitors the opportunity to try different food options and branded products.
This year there will be also the opportunity to take part in cooking workshops, to learn about Arabic culture and its traditional cuisine. Chef Houda Barka will host free cooking exhibitions in Al-Mut’amid Square every day at 7pm.
The Silves Medieval Fair will start daily at 6pm with medieval processions in the streets which will mark the beginning of the event. Regular tickets cost €2 per person. There is also a €4 ticket that comes with a ceramic branded cup of the fair, and group tickets for five people cost €8. The event is free to children up to 1,30m or 9 years old for online tickets.
The Al-Mut’amid Square will host the daily Honor and Passion Duels at 8pm and 10.30pm, with a theatrical recreation featuring horses and swords. Tickets cost €5 (show only), and €6 with entrance to the fair included.
The Silves Castle will showcase the Oriental Nights at 10.30pm with music, dance and fire shows. Tickets cost €5 (show only), and €6 with entrance to the fair included.
